The Scoop on the Author

 Introduction
{The Most Recent Picture of Me}
 Hello there! Welcome to my "About Me" page. Hopefully before you came to this page you read the little "About Me" column on the "Home" page. If you didn't, let me introduce myself. My name is Jillian Langford. I'm a 14 (nearly 15) year old Jesus Freak striving to serve my King in everything I do. I live in the awesome state of Michigan in the lower peninsula. If you use your right hand as a map of Michigan, my house is in the middle of the palm and a little to the left. For those of you who know your Michigan geography, I live just outside of Grand Rapids.  I'm a nationally published author and I've written several articles for the Grand Rapids press and some reviews for Teen Ink magazine. I love listening to music and talking to people. My favorite singer is definitely Matthew West.

My Story About His Glory
On a more serious note, I met Jesus about six years ago and let Him into my heart two short years ago. I've grown up in a non-Christian family. Six years ago, I met my best friend, Carly. She started bringing me to church for her Wednesday night youth group shortly after we met. After seeing how happy and fulfilling the lives of the people at her church were, I knew it was something I wanted to belong to. After a while I started coming to church on Sundays with Carly's mom, aunt and grandma. That's when I met Mary. Mary was the teen Sunday school teacher. Mary and Carly were really good friends and one afternoon Mary invited me and Carly to come over to her dorm and just hang out. I told her all about my life while we were together hanging out. After our afternoon meeting, Mary made every attempt she could to get into my life and aid me in my spiritual growth. One evening, I was talking with Carly on over instant message and we were discussing what it meant to truly be saved and the steps it takes to become saved. I was feeling down because what I had always grown up thinking was that you had to be baptized to be saved and I had never been baptized. Carly quickly informed me that salvation didn't come through a ceremony, it happened through the healing power of Jesus when you let him into your heart. In the next few minutes, Carly sent me a prayer and I accepted Christ right there in front of my computer screen.
My coolest spiritual moment happened about a year later though. I had become an active member of Carly's youth group and we were on a weekend retreat. It was a really cool experience but the coolest thing happened on the bus ride home. As we were on the bus home, Mary approached me and asked me to take a class she was teaching. It was a class that taught the basics of Christianity and at the end of the class you publicly professed your faith in front of the church, you're baptized (if you haven't been already) and become a church member. I immediately had doubts that I would be allowed to do this. My parents weren't even comfortable with me going to church. They did NOT want me baptized or to become a member but Mary really encouraged me to talk my parents about it. So I did. And the answer was just as I expected: No. After a lot of convincing though, we came to a compromise. I could take the class for strictly educational purposes but I was not allowed to be baptized of join the church. It wasn't ideal but I agreed to it. Nearing the end of the class, I felt this tug on my heart to to join the church. I talked to Mary about it and she took me out of ice cream and we went down to a pond to talk. As we sat and ate and talked, I broke down sobbing. The desire I had was so strong but I didn't know what to do. I was faithless that God would pull through and help me through the situation I was in. Mary assured me that, even though she had no idea what He would do, He would do something. So I waited. And about a week later, my mom actually approached me and told me that she saw that becoming a member of the church and being baptized was something I needed to do and she allowed me to do it.  It was amazing to see the Spirit working in her without her knowing it. My parents were so dead set on me not joining this church and then them allowing me to do it was truly a work of God.
{Being baptized on July 18}
I was baptized and became a member of Fifth Reformed Church on July 18, 2010.

My Pledge To Wait
I'm a teenager and I encounter all of those crazy emotions we feel as teenagers: crushes, desires and lust. But I've been called upon and made a commitment to wait for the perfect man until God brings him to me (if that is His will). I've made a promise to keep pure for my future husband emotionally and physically. I will not be dating until I'm ready for and considering marriage and I will only date a man who meet my high standards. I hope my husband is waiting for me too. I pray for him often and I also hope he is thinking about me and also growing in his relationship with the Lord so that when we meet, we will be capable of the perfect human relationship through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
